Artist's Comments

Another image for my sci-fi character design. I'm working on one more image from a perspective inside her space-suit, then I'm finished :)

:D Thanks!! I especially appreciate the comment since I didn't use reference, and I was worried it would look unnatural. Glad to know it doesn't ^_^

Loving the pose and lighting in this one! Especially as I have no grasp of foreshortening whatsoever... O_o;; I like the little details, too, like the
dirt on the sole of her foot... nice job! XD

:D Thanks!
Foreshortening's a bitch, but once you get used to life drawing it becomes easier :)

Heh, I kinda chickened out in my lifedrawing classes, and always positioned myself where it was easiest to draw the model... O_o (plus, when she was lying down flat, there were certain ends I... didn't really wanna draw from, if you know what I mean! XD) I'm planning on taking classes this year too, though, so hopefully I'll get the hang of foreshortening eventually...

that's a beautiful angle. i like that the foreground tech is a matte dark - it emphasizes (and frames) her human character rather than the technology surrounding her. well, maybe I'm reading too much into it.

the flat colors with just touches of more shading here and there is nice too.
:iconspoonbard:
^_^ Thanks! Yeah, that was the intent. The setting was more of a frame in order to demonstrate the character at work than to show off the background.
:iconspoonbard:
lol! Lifedrawing can be a real pain ><
Good luck with it though! :D It really does help.

I like her personality... it seems very charismatic... I'm not sure how to describe it. It's also very aesthetic...hmm...other than that...I like the name. Did you look up the name "Danica" before you named her or did you just happen to know what it means?
:iconspoonbard:
:D Thanks! I looked it up first. I wanted something russian that had a relevant meaning... that's how I tend to name characters normally.
