Die Database

This is a commission I finished recently that has taken months to get through! The heavy detail aside, I've had a large number of projects to sort out, and this one ended up having to fall in-between the rest.

The commissioner is planning to create a multi-media fiction called Runaway Girl Army, featuring this band Die Database and their group of fans. When it's launched, it'll be hosted on runawaygirlarmy.com (which currently redirects to his personal site, junkmagnet.com ).

I was asked to create this concert scene, which focuses on the band, and two other main characters who are in the crowd. The setting is slightly in the future, hence the holographic effects going on. Most of it was done without specific visual reference, but a lot of text description. A number of crowd members are cos-playing Shiina Ringo outfits though, and the band is also covering a Shiina Ringo song.
