Liztacy by spoonbard Liztacy by spoonbard
Sorry for giving you the same pic over and over again >< But this is really worth seeing :D :D
I was moaning that I didn't have a tablet, and so couldn't draw hair effectively, and my friend Liz Said she'd give it a go for me :D :D I just sent her the previous version, and this is what she came up with! She's also changed the feel of the digital painting and the quality of the lighting, and it all looks fantastic! Liz, you rock!
If uyou're reading this, go visit her page now! X3

Wow, you did so well on the hair it kind of overshadows the rest of the piece! XD Very nice colors, I always loved pieces with a warm feeling. This one just has warm colors, I can't say it has a warm feeling. It's more creepy in a good way. XD

But yeah, one small suggestion, since the hair is so smooth, I would smooth out the rest of it a little and add maybe a little luster to the skin, as it is a bit too matte compared to the rest of it. Otherwise, it is beautiful. ^_^

^^; It was ~pixieface who did the hair and the lighting. The general feel of the shading on the skin is slightly more rough that it was to begin with. I think I know what you mean about the slight clash, but I guess you're bound to get that with a collab.

Oooh! I see. Yeah, that makes sense now. I missed somewhere that it actually was a collab.

nice job, the style of colouring is lovely! I like the contrast in texture on the picture, how the BG very rough looking whilst the character is very smooth looking..good job! ^^

It's so different from your usual work, and such a lovely style of colour to see you use ^__^. *looks more* The hair is just fantastic, there is so much attention to detail, and the glossy light. Im in love with this actually :D, awesome job!

lol! That's prolly coz it wasn't done by me ^_~ This is something that my friend ~pixieface did for me. basically, she took [link] this one, and did her own stuff to it, so it's kinda a collab :D :D

Collaberations are so fun! And this one worked a treat. The only shame is that the hand on the left is now partly obscured by the hair - it was such an incredibly rendered hand. Still, it's being hidden by such gorgeous hair, who can complain? ^_^
Lovely work from both of you!

oh, and it totally looked lighter on my PC *sighs* - the hair was more detailed than that. Oh well, y'get the idea. XD

ah, the hair might look less detailed because I toned down the hue and saturation a little. I though the purple stood out a *little* too much for my taste in pallete. Just a tiny tweak. It's prolly the monitor you're on that's too dark too X3

pfft. I preferred it more saturated. (; I always tweak the saturation/contrast in photoshop when I'm done painting in OC, because my OC colours often come out a bit muddy for my tastes. Oh well - differing tastes, etc etc. *huggles Plau!*

We should TOTALLY do this again some time, y'know. *grins*

lol! X3 As you can probably tell, I like really restrained palletes. Normally coloured greys or dusky purples ^_^ This really rocks like this though. I've recieved quite a few compliments on my 'new look' XD... people should look at artist's comments more throughly ><

yeah, they should. XD however! I shall repeat myself MANY many times - we must do this again. And maybe we should reverse roles next time - I'll draw, and you colour? (; you need to get yerself a graphics tablet, plauface - then you'll have no more need of my humble skills. XD

:D :D Yeah, I feel like this has somehow produced something a little beyond the scope of both of our normal work. If you come up with any ideas for a pic that I could polish, let me know ^___^

*grins* glad you like it, Plauface! (: I had a lot of fun painting on it, too.... so it's all good! I think it turned out pretty good, eh? I like to think so, anyway...

I only changed a few things besides painting in the hair - note, eyelid. XD that and a few touches of shading, mainly around the mouth and nose area. I left the hands mainly as is, besides flinging on a lot of new colours and messing with it like that. We should do this again, it was fun! *hops!*

My half of it was done on photoshop. I got it up to [link] this standard in photoshop, and then Liz I thionk does her stuff in Open Canvas. The strokes that she uses are a lot more expressive, but I think that's just personal style. Me I'm just more comfortable with photoshop :)

I was going to say, the strokes are really nice. Is it possible to get the same sort of "painterly" effect in photoshop, you know? (yea, PS is what I feel comfortable with too :) )

Hmm.... well, not to my knowledge. Digital painting isn't my forte really. That pic I linked you was my first ever try at it.
I think really you need to be using corel painter or open canvas or some painter type program for a *real* paintey feel. Although to be honest, it's probably easier to just paint with paints XD XD

annnnd, that's why I like Open Canvas so much - it's basically a digital paintbox - pared down to just that. No flashy special effects, no filters, only two types of brush (one has a hard edge and one.... doesn't!), none of that fancy-pants-ey stuff. I usually make a whole painting on one layer. Actually, this one had three, but as usual practically everything was on one layer - the other two was a mild highlight layer and a colour wash layer designed to filter out some of the green tones.

Everything on one layer. *nods* - then you can mix the paints as you go, right on the canvas, with the brushes. Works better than way... and I guess, a bit like REAL painting, except I don't actually do that (lazy me). I'm a digital girl at heart. (;

oooooh. y'know, I have no idea? >_< Try googling Open Canvas 1.1 b78 - that's the freeware version I use. As far I know, there isn't a mac version - but then everyone I know is a PC person.... those onebigbutton mices are just.... ugh.
anyway. mmm. I hope there is a mac version! good luck. (;
