Been working a while on this one. Originally, I wanted it to be super detailed and really well rendered colouring wise, but despite the detail I put into the pencils, they ended up looking quite simple, and the simple colours matched them nicely.
The theme is really free association. As I drew, ideas came into my head, I modified them, added other elements, and eventually settled on the word 'satellite'. I guess it's about the self.
Not sure what more to say... it's a bit of an odd one out.

Satellite by ~spoonbard is refreshingly original and thoughtful, and shows great skill in linework and anatomy. Take a look and enjoy ! (Suggested by ~pixieface and Featured by `nighty)
That's simply fabulous; I love how it looks like a mirror image, yet the two are melded; all while being held in the palm of someone's hand. Simply put: amazing.

92% of the teenage population would die if Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister said it wasn't cool to breathe anymore. Put this in your signature if you're part of the 8% who would be watching and laughing their butts off.
You may think it's odd, but I find it surprisingly beautiful. I dunno, something about it makes me think of the struggle of Life and Death, how they are solidly connected, and how we as humanity are always trying to reach beyond our limits, even if we are doubting whether we can or not. (don't ask me why, it just does.)
The simplistic, pastel colors suit the subject matter wonderfully, and the gentle shading compliments the color scheme well.
The only small beef that I have with this piece is that at one point, where the girls legs join together, the angle makes it look as though the girl on the bottom has her back leg shoved up into the girl on top. I actually thought that was what was happening until I looked closer. Other than that, it's perfect. =^.^=

It reminds me (though definately not the same, as they're conjoined) of this part in the movie, Mirrormask. The two main characters, Helena and Valentine go to this place called Giants Orbiting, there's two stone giants in the air. A woman and a man. They're lying sort of criss-crossed on each other, the woman facing up, the man facing down, balancing each other out. Because when they're seperated, the man falls to the earth, and the woman flies into the sky.
A really powerful scene, and this picture can't help but give me that same feeling~

And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call.
I like the coloring, I think it fits the image perfectly
